Frequently Asked Questions

Product

Our towels are made of microfiber fabric. Microfiber is a synthetic fiber, comprised of varying combinations of polyester and polyamide.

Our original line of towels was made of an 88% polyester and 12% polyamide blend. We are in the process of transitioning all of our towels to be made from GRS certified post-consumer recycled plastics.  This new recycled towel is made of 85% recycled polyester and 15% recycled nylon.  To learn more about these materials and how we source them, see our Sustainability page.

Unlike the typical terry cloth towels you’re used to, microfiber towels are designed to be quicker-drying and more absorbent. They don't collect that damp smell, and the fabric’s smooth surface means that sand won’t stick. There are different types of microfiber fabrics, but ours is designed to be compact & light-weight for the perfect travel towel!
Wanderlight towels are in a league of their own, from our beautiful designs and quality craftsmanship, to the very threads of our fabric. Years of development have gone into creating a towel that is quicker-drying, more compact, and more light-weight than the rest. And the best part?  They’re now made completely out of recycled materials. We’re confident that we make the best travel towel out there!
“Quick-Dry” towels are able to dry you off more quickly, as well as dry themselves off more quickly.
We currently offer two sizes of towels: Large & Standard

Large is our most popular towel size, and most people would find this to be the most suitable and versatile. However, we recommend the Standard size if:

  • You’re tight on space/weight allowance –  Backpackers know all too well that every pound and every inch of space makes a difference. 60g lighter and 2cm shorter when compact in its pouch, this towel was made for you!
  • You won’t be lying down on your towel and full-body coverage isn’t a priority(ex. just needed to wipe down after exercising/pool)
  • You’re petite and can get away with using a smaller towel in general
We recommend hand washing and air drying to preserve the quality of the towel and lower your environmental impact. However, should you choose, your towel can be machine washed with like colours in cold water (30˚C/86˚F) and tumble dried on low heat. Do not use bleach or fabric softener. Fabric softener can deteriorate the efficacy of the microfiber over time.

The towel pouch should only be hand washed & air dried.

Orders & Shipping

Delivering the best in customer service is one of our top priorities.  It’s why we’ve partnered with Amazon’s Fulfillment Network to get you your order as quickly and reliably as possible. Your order will ship from one of Amazon's warehouses across the country that is closest to your shipping address.

Currently, we ship orders from our website throughout Canada.  All other orders can be placed through our Amazon store: https://www.amazon.com/wanderlight
After your order has been shipped, we will send you an email confirmation that includes your tracking number. If you have not received it, please contact us.
Absolutely! We are able to offer Standard shipping to all P.O. boxes across Canada.  Just make sure you include all necessary details as part of the checkout process.  Unfortunately, Expedited and Priority shipping are not available for P.O. boxes.
Contact us if you are interested in placing a bulk order so we can arrange preferred pricing and shipping. Customization may be available on orders over 100 towels.
Contact us as soon as possible with your order number so we can try and make the change for you before your order ships.
Since our towels are stored in different warehouses across North America, they may ship from two different locations if you have ordered multiple.  Although you may receive two packages, they should both arrive within the specified shipping timeframe.  If you haven’t received your full order by date specified on your order, please contact us so we can track your package down for you.

Returns & Exchanges

We stand by the quality of our product. In the rare occasion that there is something wrong with your towel, please contact us as soon as possible so we can replace it for you.
We want you to be 100% happy with your purchase. If the design or size of the towel you selected was not what you had in mind, please contact us so we can exchange it for you.
If this is your first time using a microfiber towel, we encourage you to try it out for a bit before making up your mind. The suede-like material will be different than what you’re used to, but once you have tried it out and realize what a game-changer this can be for your travels, there’s no going back!

If you’re certain this isn’t for you, contact us so we can process a return for you.
Once we have received the product back to our warehouse, we will send you an email letting you know that your refund has been issued. It may take up to 10 business days after that to see the refund in your account. If you don’t see the refund in your account after 10 business days, contact us so we can look into it for you.

Sustainability

The Global Recycled Standard (GRS) is an internationally recognized certificate issued by the Textile Exchange, a global non-profit dedicated to reducing the negative impact of the textile industry. The certification verifies that a product contains the recycled contents it claims. It also certifies the products were ethically made, with sound social and environmental practices. We are in the process of transitioning all of our towels to be made from GRS-certified material.
Fabric made from virgin plastics and recycled plastics are actually identical, even under a microscope! What’s different is how they are made. Virgin plastics are created new, while post-consumer recycled plastics have been used in the world and are diverted from oceans and landfills.
Creating virgin plastics adds more waste to our planet that will take hundreds of years to breakdown, while recycling plastics helps repurpose the plastics that have already been created, used by consumers & discarded. The process of recycling plastics also has a significantly lower carbon footprint then creating new plastics.
Using recycled plastics does not impact the quality of your towel in any meaningful way. Our towels are designed to last you a lifetime of adventures.
All synthetic materials, including our towels and most of the clothes you wear, shed microplastics when they are washed. One thing you can do to reduce microplastic shedding is wash your towel by hand. Using a laundry bag, such as Guppyfriend, when washing synthetics can also drastically reduce the amount of microplastics that make their way into our waterways.
It is important that we support an organization that is aligned with our mission and that our donations are being put to good use. We revisit our partnerships annually to ensure that this alignment is maintained and that the organization is transparent as to how their funds are allocated. In 2022, we are donating 5% of all of our profits to Sustainable Travel International.
